A clean example of a Goliya from Lahore.
The steel hilt is of the traditional form with a knuckle guard and domed pommel. Decorated with silver Koftgari overlay in geometric and floral design, which is typical to the style of Lahore. The silver koftgari is generously preserved with approximately 85% in tact. The hilt is of a large form.
The blade is of substantial construction and very slender and light weight making it very practical. The curvature of the blade means this is a Goliya (meaning rounded). The persian term to describe such a blade is Shamshir. The blade is of pattern welded steel (or Skela) construct with a visible pattern throughout the blade.
Accompanied with a later leather scabbard.
Overall a fantastic example of a sword from Lahore with characteristic features and fantastic aesthetic.
